Pathology Services

Pathology is a medical specialty that determines the cause and nature of diseases by examining and testing body tissues (from biopsies and pap smears, for example) and bodily fluids (from samples including blood and urine). The results from these pathology tests help doctors diagnose and treat patients correctly.Unlike the pathologists you might see on the television, those working in the NHS are more likely to work for the benefit of the living, rather than spending all day with dead bodies, performing post-mortems or investigating murders.

Provide a flexible, broad-based training program for physicians seeking training in Pathology for either an academic or community-practice career. Areas of study include Anatomic, Clinical, and experimental Pathology.Residents are encouraged to participate in research projects of various kinds. Although no specific research requirement exists, it is felt that the problem-solving skills and methodologies learned through doing research are valuable tools for both the academic and community-practice pathologist.

Nature of treatment

A clinical laboratory is a facility for the biological, microbiological, serological, chemical, immunohematological, hematological, biophysical, cytological, pathological, or other examination of materials derived from the human body for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment of, human beings. These examinations also include procedures to determine, measure, or otherwise describe the presence or absence of various substances or organisms in the body. Facilities only collecting or preparing specimens (or both) or only serving as a mailing service and not performing testing are not considered clinical laboratories.

Side Effects of Pathology Services

Unexpected side-effects are being noted, particularly affecting the nervous system. Other side-effects may be anticipated from a sound knowledge of clinical pathology and recognition of the commonality of angiogenesis to multiple disease mechanisms, but these may be tolerable or avoidable. Angiogenesis researchers await further feedback and ideas from the clinic to stimulate the next phase of basic and applied research.
